The Higher Education Technical School of Professional Studies in Novi Sad was founded in 1959, and it is one of the oldest higher education institutions in Serbia.
The course group of Protection at work was opened in 1983, and today it exists as a study programme named Occupational safety. Since its foundation, the School has been an active factor in the system of protection in the country participating in it not just through education, but also in all forms of cooperation with industry.
Since 1976, the Higher Education Technica School of Professional Studies in Novi Sad traditionally organizes scientific and expert conferences in the field of fire protection, and since 2004 also in the field of occupational safety. In 2009 the Conference on risk and safety engineering became a scientific and expert meeting with international participation, organized in cooperation with the Faculty of Technical Sciences from Novi Sad, and the
Occupational Safety and Health Directorate of the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Afairs of the Republic of Serbia. Until now, the participants at the conferences were scientists and experts from Serbia,
Russia, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Great Britain, Germany, Romania, Moldova, Montenegro, Macedonia and Croatia.
Based on the positive experiences of the previous conferences, and the confirmed need of scientists and experts to meet aiming to continuously improve the protection system, the 16th Conference with International
paticipation on Risk and Safety Engineering is organized on 14-16 January 2021 in the mountain ski resort of Kopaonik.
